Engagement Session Guide
Hi friend! I can not tell you how excited I am to be doing your engagement session! We are going to have so much fun and I’m looking forward to getting to know you and your other half! To help you best prepare for your session I’ve put together a simple guide for you below! If you have any question, please feel free to reach out!
Coordinate, not match
Long gone are the days of you both wearing white button ups and blue jeans. We want to add personality and your story to your images! This is why I ask my couples to coordinate instead of matching. Start with a color scheme of 2 colors and pick your outfits based on that. For example, in the left image above you see Jessica wearing a navy blue dress with an oatmeal cardigan, while Dalton is wearing a navy blue plaid button up with khakis. They are sticking to the same colors, but aren’t both wearing the same solid color. I do suggest that your main outfits only have one pattern, so if one of you is wearing plaid or floral, stick with solid for the other and then… this brings me to my next tip!
This is the best way to spice up your session and add diversity to your images! I love how Belle used a scarf to create almost two outfits in her session. Scarves and jewelry are great accessories! Wearing your hair down for half of your session and then putting it in a high pony or bun for the second half easily creates two different looks as well. This is a great tip for someone doing a mini session!
Clean your ring
It’s time to show off your ring and I will be sure to get some ring shots both on your hand and of just the ring. A simple hack that I use is to just put hot water in a bowl with some mild dish soap, let your ring soak for about 20-30 minutes, scrub with a soft toothbrush, and rinse! Very easy to do, but it makes all the difference! Also, ladies please don’t forget to clean up your nails too. You don’t have to paint your nails if you don’t want to, but please trim them and clean them up so that you’re ready to show off that diamond!
Be ready to have fun!
Your engagement session will be FUN! I work hard to keep things moving and creating moments for you two to enjoy. Relax! I rarely work with models, so all of my couples are real-life people just like you. Dress comfortably, it will show in your images if you don’t feel your best and we want you to feel your best! So please wearing clothing that is comfortable and properly fitting. I want for you to be able to move around freely without worrying about your feet hurting or adjusting your outfit.
So get ready for lots of moving, dancing, kissing, and just having fun together! I can hardly wait! See you soon!
Lots of love,
